A first-grade Norse boy (named Henrik, of course) was on a school trip to the village of Brandbu this April when he saw something sticking out of the ground.

Most people probably would have left it alone, but not Henrik!

Henrik quickly discovered that the metal object was indeed an ancient sword (finding an ancient sword is on the bucket item of every man, whether they admit it or not).

The sword was turned over to authorities, who authenticated the artifact as a real Viking-era sword, dating between 750 and 850 A.D.

The blade found in a field located very close to a known burial mound from the Iron Age, so it's expected that the sword originated in the gravesite, but over the years had been disturbed by the cultivation of the field, and somehow went unnoticed even while sticking straight out of the soil.

Archaeologist for the Innlandet County's Cultural Heritage department, Øystein Lia, told Fox News Digital,

[the weapon] belonged to someone of high status within Viking Age society. It was most likely owned by a man, a free landholding individual and a significant warrior. He may also have served as a military advisor to a local Viking chieftain.

Henrik has some serious bragging rights.

On June 15, Henrik and his class were able to take another field trip to the Museum of Cultural History in the nation's capital, Oslo, where Henrik was able to reunite with the sword, see mummies, and eat ice cream.

Only one question remains:

When is Henrik crowned the new king of Norway??
