The son of a Kansas City Chiefs coach has just been charged with shooting his mother.

[H]e shot the coach's wife, Mia Bieniemy, multiple times at the family's Virginia home while Eric was away at training camp.

Authorities say Mia Bieniemy was critically injured and remains hospitalized.

27-year-old Elijah Zion Bieniemy was arrested in Ashburn, Virginia, on Sunday for shooting his own mother, the wife of Chiefs Offensive Coordinator Eric Bieniemy.

That's a crazy thing to write down.

Eric wasn't home at the time. He was hundreds of miles away in Missouri, kicking off training camp with the Chiefs.

Loudoun County Sheriff's Office charged the younger Bieniemy with "malicious wounding, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and discharging a firearm inside a dwelling."

He's being held without bond.
