Let's talk about what Kari Lake has been up to this week

Kari Lake appeared before the House Foreign Affairs Committee this week and things got ... weird.

Lake is a senior adviser to the U.S. Agency for Global Media (USAGM), which oversees government-funded news outlets like Voice of America and Radio Free Europe. Per Trump's directive, she has been downsizing the agency significantly as part of a push to dismantle Swamp propaganda.

Arizona Rep. Greg Stanton is not happy about that. He grilled Lake then reminded her that she lost her bids for Arizona governor and senator.

Then Lake replied 👇

Kari Lake just casually tossed a "gay lover" rumor into the congressional record.

Lake's point was that malicious lies can circulate about anyone, but implying that Stanton had a gay lover was part of her circus trick.

Rep. Darrell Issa: I thank the gentle lady and I appreciate the dialogue ... I thought [it was] rather complimentary that, in fact, [the gay lover rumors] were untrue and she was defending that.

Lake: That's what he says.

It's not clear what rumors Lake is referencing. The Arizona Republic, for instance, was unable to find any stories, real or contrived, to that effect. Other local Arizona outlets were similarly unable to dig anything up.

But nevermind. She's out here proving the point that lies don't have to have any evidence for them to start circulating:

I could sit here and beg Americans to stop paying attention to politicians who launch catty ad-hominem attacks like girls gossiping around their lockers in high school, but this is 2025 and American politics passed the point of no return long ago.

Remember, for instance, that the Democrat-funded Russia dossier started the false claim that Donald Trump hired prostitutes to do disgusting acts on each other. That was a lie, though it was endlessly repeated throughout the media for years.

Indeed, most of the Trump era has been marked by endless Democrat lies about virtually every aspect of Trump's life, career, and family.

Trump is just the tip of the iceberg: Remember that they accused Brett Kavanaugh of being an attempted rapist and/or the runner of a gang-rape ring and a psychopathic violent criminal.

This blueprint has been repeated again and again.

Remember Covid?

Remember the BLM riots?

So yeah, all of this is insanely stupid and crazier than satire. It's the peak of clown world. But Kari Lake has a point when it comes to the power that government-funded media could wield (and has wielded) with lies.

I guess Democrats shouldn't be surprised when Republican politicians start using their dirty, underhanded tactics against them to prove a point.
