Yes, it is the breed. ... it's the type, and we all know the type. It's like the Supreme Court talks about pornography. You know it when you see it. I know a pit bull mix when I see 'em.
From my perspective, I got a lot of buddies that like this kind of dog, and they really generally don't have any problems with them, because they never forget what kind of dog they are, and they manage them in a way that's appropriate for the type.
...
Most people that have dogs, they don't do that good a job of training them, and they definitely don't do that good of a job of managing them ... So when you have these kind of dogs and they're running around killing your neighbor's dog, they're biting the mailman, they're killing babies in front of their moms, you just have to accept the fact that people don't need to have this kind of dog really.
Because most of the time, they're not gonna learn to train them right, they're not gonna manage them right, and a lot of times, they're just gonna literally lack the physical capacity to manage the dog if it doesn't want to be managed.
For a guy like me, or people I'm friends with, they can have all sorts of mean dogs. They can have tigers and lions if they wanted 'em, because they're willing to do what it takes to manage the dogs.
But for normal people, these types of dogs are very dangerous, and the negative externalities related to owning this type of dog - in my opinion, it's not right to externalize that kind of risk onto your neighbors and you shouldn't do it.
I look forward to the "I can fix him" dog mom in the comments who will defend why she, as a single mom with two small kids, is smarter than this trainer.
If you missed it, "Punisher" star Jon Bernthal compared discrimination against pit bulls to discrimination against black people (yes, really!).
It's just racism. It's just dog racism. You know? I think to be afraid of a breed of dog is completely ridiculous.
It's like being afraid of somebody for their race or sexual orientation.
Comparing black and gay people to dogs ... and dogs that were specifically bred to fight, at that.
What a guy! π
Anyway, we have a whole news category for horrific pit bull attacks, if you want to check that out.
