Trevor Kreke of Effingham, Illinois, just gave us the most up-close-and-personal look at tornado damage I've ever seen.
Yes, yet another batch of twisters ripped through the heartland Wednesday night, and Kreke got what seems to be one of the Central-Illinois tornadoes on tape.
Trevor credits the Lord with his survival.
The whole house that I'm living in just got torn to pieces.
I was flying around my house.
I think I'm good though.
The Lord saved me.
I was pleading for Jesus as I was just going through that.
The Lord saved me.
I thought I could die. I definitely could've died.
🙏🙏🙏
Fortunately, no major damage was reported inside the limits of Effingham, home to over 12,000 people. But head a bit north and some of those areas, like Trevor's place above, got absolutely worked over. The nearby city of Charleston, home to around 17,000, saw a bunch of damage as well.
From CBS News:
The Effingham County Emergency Management Agency said an 'impactful tornado' traveled about 12-15 miles through the northern parts of the county, causing some injuries, but none of them serious. The agency said 'there was also extensive damage to multiple residences, businesses, and farms.'
Pray for the people of the American Heartland. This time of year it's a game of tornado roulette, and you just never know when your home will be next.
