Crazy stuff out of Michigan, via NPR:

Former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg says he and his children were the subject of an investigation by Child Protective Services following an anonymous report that was later determined to be false.

Buttigieg, who lives with his husband [aka gay lover] and their twin four-year-old children in Traverse City, Michigan detailed the experience in a Substack post on Friday, saying that a police officer and CPS worker had come to his home and notified him of an anonymous report that alleged his children were at risk.

According to Buttigieg, the state Children's Protective Services received an anonymous tip alleging that he had admitted to "unspeakable violent crimes."

Officials had shown up to his house and informed him that he would have to be separated from his children, who would be subject to an interview by government agents with no parent present.

They explained that there had been an allegation against me, that it concerned our four-year-old twins, and that a forensic interview had been arranged for the children the following day. I could not be present at the children's interview, nor could any family member sit in. Afterwards, they would come back and interview me. And only then would they tell me anything about the nature of the allegation.

CPS officials can be notoriously obstinate when dealing with parents.

[They told me an] anonymous caller had contacted CPS. The caller said that he had spoken to a woman who claimed to have met me at a conference several years ago in Alabama, where she said I told her that I had committed unspeakable violent crimes, and the caller believed my children were still at risk.

That was all. The officer had a couple of obvious questions. He asked if I had been to the town where the woman claimed she had met me. I have not. Then the officer made clear that he believed this was politically motivated, and said it would not be referred to a prosecutor. Nothing in the forensic interview with the children, which was conducted by trained personnel, had led to concerns.

The whole thing was over in about a day, though some people wondered if the liberal authorities in Traverse City treated Buttigieg with kid gloves compared to how Buttigieg and his pals in the Biden admin treated conservatives:

Whether or not you feel that gay parents should be able to adopt children — and there are a great many entirely persuasive arguments as to why they shouldn't be allowed to — filing a false CPS report against someone is sadistic.

It's a false accusation, for one, and it doubtlessly traumatizes the children involved, and it wastes government resources. Nothing good about it.

Of course, there are some who are skeptical about the claim, given the media's desire to position Buttigieg for a 2028 run for president.

Other recent attempts at PR have failed to get Buttigieg national attention 👇

Buttigieg, meanwhile, seems determined to punish whoever did this to him:

I don't know how much we can do about it, but so help me God, if there is any way to press civil or criminal charges over this, we will.

Sad thing is, even if this were made up, it's believable because it happens to parents all the time.
