This is one for the history books.

Salah Dine Habib is an Arab man from Mauritania. He claimed asylum at the Arizona border in 2023, claiming to be gay.

This was a problem, because in Islamic places like North Africa and New York City, you can be jailed or executed for being gay.

Biden promptly awarded asylum to Habib and sent him to Indiana.

Less than a year later, this foreign Arab Muslim got a job at the county jail in Portland, Indiana, because of course he did.

He quickly became friends with Jay County Sheriff Larry Ray Newton Jr., who hired him. He also wasted no time in pursuing romance, wooing Larry Ray's stepdaughter, Chelsea.

Their wedding was in September 2025.

Sheriff Newton confirmed to WIBC that Habib served as a non-armed correctional officer at the county jail.

He also said Habib was his step-son-in-law, but that he started his tenure with the sheriff's department before marrying into his family.

Newton claimed local officials were unaware of Habib's immigration status, adding that his driver's license and Social Security card had cleared their recruitment process.

Our system is so broken that Americans get sent to jail for blocking abortion clinics and the jailers are Arab Muslims who just arrived in America based on a lie.

The auditor's office said that Habib cleared the federal background screening process with his I-9 immigration document.

This is common. Our background screens are total jokes. That is, unless you are an American buying a gun. THEN the background screening is comprehensive.

Habib is now in jail in Brazil, Indiana, where he is fighting ICE's deportation order.

DHS said this in a statement:

"Under President Trump and Secretary Mullin ICE is restoring law and order. Illegal aliens have no place in our communities, especially in positions of law enforcement."
