There's dumb, and then there's Jasmine Crockett.
She actually said that.
She said this about the family of a high school student who was viciously murdered in cold blood, mind you.
What she is referring to is the lie that countless unarmed black men are killed by racist cops each year. In reality, between 15-30 unarmed black men are killed by police annually out of around 1,400 incidents of "death-by-cop."
Crockett also failed to mention that black men, despite making up 6% of the population, are responsible for nearly half of all violent crime (51% of murderers are black, with 85% being male and the vast majority being young).
The internet was understandably incredulous:

Yes, the knife that cut a full two inches into Austin Metcalf's chest, puncturing his heart and killing him almost immediately, wasn't a deadly weapon! This is one of the people who wants to control your right to keep and bear arms. π€‘
Thankfully, Crockett will not be in Congress for much longer, having chosen not to campaign to retain her seat and instead making a bid to run for a Senate seat (a bid she lost).
Come January 2027, she'll be out of D.C. and free to spew her insane takes elsewhere.
...Which she most certainly will.
