UK dad Simon Reynolds and his daughter, Emily Franklin, just achieved a major milestone together after they both graduated from nursing school at the University Centre Somerset.
Reynolds had already worked as a mental health professional for more than twenty years before returning to school to get his nursing degree. Now that the father-daughter pair are both nurses, they work at the same facility in different departments.
Not only was Reynolds returning to school later in life, but his daughter was also going through school as a 31-year-old mom of two.
Reynolds told PEOPLE,
There were a couple of times I nearly quit the course, but with Emily's support, and the cohort I was with, we talked through it. Having her there was a fantastic bonus. What she's achieved, and raising two children as well. It's hard to put it into words, but I'm a super proud dad.

Franklin said of going through school with her dad,
We have always had a really close relationship, so when we were studying, it was nice just to have somebody who understood the hard times that come with it, and the work-life balance. It's just brought a whole new dynamic to our relationship.
Franklin said that her dad's hard work and dedication to push through the program are proof that,
Once you find something you love doing, you're not too old to learn ... [and] make something better for yourself.
Not only did she watch her father do that, but Franklin also got to follow his example in real time, and now the father and daughter get to continue working side by side.
