Guys, just when I think the Democrats' Senate candidate can't get more heretical, Data Republican goes and finds old clips like this:
VIDEO: Texas state Rep. James Talarico opened a legislative session with a heretic prayer, invoked old Communist-adjacent phrase h/t @reddit_lies who spotted it on Reddit; I tracked down the original video.
The prayer addresses God as 'holy mystery' with 'so many names' — Torah, Quran, Gita, Dharma — treating all religious traditions as equally valid expressions of the same God.
Jesus is described as 'a barefoot rabbi' who 'expressed' God's love... one expression among many implied.
The closing line: 'build a new world in the shell of the old.'
That phrase has a specific origin. It comes from the IWW (Industrial Workers of the World) Preamble, written in 1905. It's syndicalist labor movement language. Not explicitly Communist - but they wanted to abolish capitalism and the state all the same.

INSANE.
It goes from equating Almighty God to many false demon "gods," to making sure to give God credit for driving evolution of humanity from primordial goo, and ending with the proto-commie "build a new world" line.
This is the man that David French thinks is the ideal Christian candidate??

The God of the Bible is NOT the god of the Quran, Gita, or Dharma.
Deuteronomy 6:4:
Hear, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord is one!
When the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob commands us not to use His name in vain, He is not primarily referring to the modern interpretation of being a potty mouth.
God's name is holy. To use it as a curse word is bad; to slap it on something evil and demonic is a million times worse.
If Talarico had lived in the 5th century BC in Israel, he would have been one of the many false prophets telling Israel that Yahweh has many names, like Baal, Dagon, and Molech. He would have encouraged mothers to offer their children as sacrifices in the name of "Yahweh." He would have supported cult prostitutes for Ashtoreth, "Yahweh's" female goddess consort.
Texas, don't let this man who wears Jesus as a skinsuit near the levers of power.
