So you wanted to hide your homeless in these tiny homes during the World Cup, eh?
FIVE PEOPLE!
How's that whole hiding the homeless thing working out for you, Seattle?
Story here from last week:
No joke, they've got five whole residents at these things. Quite a failure.
From Seattle Red:
Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson's new Interbay homeless shelter, supposedly built to take in people displaced for the World Cup, is sitting nearly empty with only five residents inside and no plan to reach full capacity until at least August. The Bayside Enhanced Shelter opened this month with 75 single-adult units, the entirety of what Wilson delivered against her promise of 500 shelter beds before the tournament.
What kind of socialist promises things and then doesn't follow through with the things they promised?
(Oh wait, all of them.)
Lady said she was gonna get 500 of these things built by June and 1,000 by the end of the year.
A city spokesperson told Red Seattle,
The Bayside Shelter is operated and staffed by Everyone Deserves Housing. Client intakes at this shelter are happening on a gradual basis to provide time for staff to work with new residents who have behavioral health and/or substance use challenges and ensure greater stability for everyone at the shelter as well as the surrounding community. This ramp-up approach aligns with standard best practice for opening emergency shelters. Five clients are currently residing at Bayside, and approximately 7-10 new intakes will take place each week until the shelter reaches full occupancy of 75 clients, anticipated by August."
As usual, central planning ignores the basic economics of supply and demand, so you can expect this homeless village to sit unused as a monument to commie stupidity.
Meanwhile, the rest of the community is left to deal with a homeless population that has no desire to follow Mayor Wilson's rehab and housing schemes.
The cycle will then continue with Mayor Wilson saying, "As long as people are on the streets, we're failing."
How about "as long as I'm the mayor, we're failing"?
That one makes a bit more sense!
