It no longer surprises me when Secret Service does stuff like this.

Bro, you had one job — keep Veep safe!
According to reports, a member of Vice President JD Vance's protective detail is now the subject of an administrative investigation (that could go criminal) for allegedly compromising "operational and information security." The Secret Service confirmed it Thursday, without naming names, of course.
From CBS News:
'A member of the Vice Presidential Protective Division is the subject of an administrative investigation, and potential criminal inquiry, involving allegations of compromising operational and information security,' [Secret Service Chief of Communications Anthony] Guglielmi said in a statement. 'While we will not comment on the specifics of this matter, one principle is unequivocal: any conduct that potentially threatens the safety of a protectee will not be tolerated.'
The timing seems to line up with a recent story about Vance and his family's personal trips, specifically one where Vance's son was to take golf lessons. Apparently Secret Service agents are fed up with taking the Vance family places. And nothing says "fed up agents" like details about a kid's schedule ending up in the press. Real professional stuff.
Sadly, as noted above, this is unsurprising. It's almost like there's a cultural issue in some corners of these agencies where "anonymous sourcing" to news outlets feels like just another day.
The investigation is ongoing, administrative leave has reportedly been issued, and I guess we'll see if anything more comes of this.
(Though I'm guessing it won't because in recent history the Secret Service is the worst.)
