The liberal white women are gonna be devastated to hear this.

More from the Associated Press:

Mangione, 28, entered the plea at a hastily scheduled hearing in Manhattan federal court, resolving one of two cases against him in connection with Thompson's death. With this guilty plea, his lawyers could seek to have the state case thrown out on double jeopardy grounds.

It's all about that legal strategy, folks!

More context on this breaking news from Fox News:

And from Law & Crime reporter Cathy Russon:

Mangione has become a folk hero among the rabid leftists, who think it's great that he murdered UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson on the streets of New York City in the early morning hours of December 4, 2024.

Throngs of adoring women have followed the case with great interest.

Mangione faced murder charges at both the state and federal level. HOWEVER, in January, U.S. District Judge Margaret Garnett DISMISSED the federal murder charge due to a technicality in U.S. law related to how prosecutors had framed the case.

By pleading guilty in federal court to lesser charges of interstate stalking resulting in death, Mangione looks to be trying to avoid the separate murder case at the state level.

Back to the AP:

The state's double jeopardy protections kick in if a jury has been sworn in a prior prosecution, such as a federal case, or if that prosecution ends in a guilty plea. Mangione's cases involve different charges arising from the same course of conduct.

The federal charges still carry the possibility of life in prison without parole.
