Far be it from me to second guess an officer of the law ... but I feel like this may be the dumbest thing I've ever seen.

But ... how is that not a comedy sketch?
It looks so ridiculous.
A cop in shorts setting a dude on fire and being knocked over on his butt by the man trying to stop drop and roll?
But it really happened, here's the news story:

That first-person view is brutal for the cop.
In what world can he argue that he felt threatened? I guess the guy could have sprayed him with gasoline ... but I don't think that'll hold up in court.

Twenty minutes earlier, Coyl says the officer accused him of trespassing at the Havasu National Wildlife Refuge. Coyl says he left the area, eventually pulling into this gas station on the Fort Mojave Indian Reservation, where he was confronted by the officer for his ID. The officer β whose name tag reads 'P. Nielsen' β deploys the less-lethal weapon just feet away from Coyl, right next to a gas pump.
What an absolute mess.
