Something is rotten in Canada.
A family is speaking out after an elderly woman was euthanized under the state's MAID program, according to the family, against the woman's will.
Despite the family's protest, and without final verbal consent, the state proceeded with the euthanasia killing.
Because they totally talked her into it had fruitful discussions with the patient about it while the family wasn't watching.

Stegemann was diagnosed with stage four stomach cancer about five months before she took her final breaths, and for the last two years she lived in a long-term medical facility in Ontario, a public family statement shared by Stegemann's granddaughter, Brigitte Kranendonk, said.
Kranendonk, who is named after her beloved grandmother, held the power of attorney for Stegemann and was 'the primary contact for all medical and personal care decisions,' the account detailing their experience said ...
After the family left for a few days, Stegemann, according to the hospital, was cogent enough to give personal consent to be euthanized, but then quickly returned to a state of confusion and mental incapacity.
Then we get this from the granddaughter:
When Kranendonk asked her grandmother if she was sure she wanted to follow through with the end-of-life decision, Stegemann gave an alarming response, the account said.
'She responded with words to the effect of, "I'm going to die Friday? They're going to kill me Friday?"
'She wept for an extended period, repeatedly stating that she had made a mistake,' the family said.
All of this, and the hospital went through with the assisted-suicide, which at this point is looking more and more like just plain murder.
Despite all the pushback from the family and Stegemann, the beloved mother and grandmother was set to die on July 10.
The family spent her final moments with her, and got to take her outside to enjoy the fresh air and a scoop of strawberry ice cream before she was wheeled back in and hooked up to an IV ...
Moments later, Stegemann took her final breath with her 'hands tightly clasped together in a fixed prayer position,' the family said.
