Here's a story that is so Louisiana, I'll be surprised if we don't see this scene in the inevitable remake of The Waterboy:
No, that is not Bobby Boucher's dad. It's 40-year-old DUI suspect Victor Rivas.
After striking a concrete barrier near New Orleans and blowing out a tire, Mr. Rivas allegedly jumped off an elevated highway straight into a swamp during a DUI stop. He showed the classic signs of impairment: slurred speech, glassy eyes ... and the unshakable confidence that fleeing on foot into a Louisiana swamp was a great idea.
Cops lost him temporarily, but later spotted him strolling down another highway. When law enforcement approached for round two, our hero made the same brilliant tactical decision: Back into the swamp!
That's when Mother Nature introduced him to one of her local friends. An alligator emerged from the murky water, ready to nominate Rivas for the Darwin Awards. The gator latched on, thrashing around and turning Rivas' arms into its personal chew toys for a solid 30 seconds.
Yes, there's footage.

From CBS News:
Rivas tried to continue to flee law enforcement, despite the injuries to his arms, authorities said. But he was found using drones and taken into custody after first receiving treatment for his injuries at a hospital. The sheriff's office said his injuries were not considered life-threatening.
Rivas has been booked at Nelson Coleman Correctional Center on charges of driving while impaired and resisting an officer, according to the sheriff. State police said they have warrants for his arrest on additional charges related to the initial highway crash that prompted their traffic stop.
To top it all off:
Gator got an award!
I can't end this story without enhancing the AI photo that the St. Charles Parish Sheriff's Office put on their Facebook page:
There you have it, folks: The opening scene of The Waterboy 2.
