There are thousands of crime stories every single day, many with multiple victims. But the prime minister of the United Kingdom felt it absolutely necessary to put out a public statement about this one?

Three adult victims are dead, including a security guard, after two teens named Caleb Vasquez (18) and Cain Clark (17) decided to attack the Islamic Center of San Diego on Monday afternoon.
One of the young men's mothers called police at 9:42 a.m., many hours earlier, to notify them that her son had left a suicide note, had taken her BMW, and had left wearing "camo."

Unfortunately, police were not able to track the teens before they used a 9mm handgun and shotgun to attack people outside the Islamic center. A fourth would-be victim, a landscaper, was missed by the shooters.
Vasquez and Clark were found dead by apparent suicide in their vehicle several blocks away. Inside the car was some kind of "anti-Islamic" writing and a gas can with the infamous Nazi "SS" logo plastered on the side.

We know nothing further at this time about what motivated the young men, but the media is already surging into overdrive to paint this as a clear case of white supremacy (ignoring the fact that "Vasquez" is the last name of one of the perps) with roots in Christian/conservative teaching.
The media loves to play this game. If three dozen black people are shot in Chicago on a random Friday, mum's the word. If a transgender shooter kills Christian school children in Minneapolis or Nashville, the story fades away. If a leftist assassin takes a shot at another conservative public figure, it will be downplayed. If a Muslim man with a "Property of Allah" shirt sprays a Texas bar with bullets, the motive is unknown.

But if two guys with a Nazi logo shoot at a mosque? International news story about the dangers of white supremacy that will dominate the news cycle.
This is exactly why the prime minister of the United Kingdom is making a statement about a crime halfway across the world from his own nation. It is good to condemn such attacks, but why did Starmer weigh in so specifically on this one when he routinely ignores more pressing crimes at home?

Violence carried out by Islamic terrorists is overwhelmingly prevalent compared to violence against Muslims. Islamic theology explicitly teaches the slaughter and subjugation of infidels. In Starmer's own neck of the woods, there have been increasing attacks on Jews, including two that were stabbed by a Muslim man last month. Three days ago, a Muslim man targeted Italian pedestrians with his car.
If Starmer wished to avoid mentioning Islam, well, a young British man was stabbed by a Sikh migrant and the police let the British man bleed out in handcuffs on the sidewalk because the Sikh told officers the young man had said something racist. Why did Starmer feel no need to condemn that incompetence?

If this was not enough, across Europe, churches are burning down almost daily. German towns are canceling Christmas markets because of Islamic terrorism. If Starmer wanted to look closer to home than San Diego, he could also look at Nigeria, where tens of thousands of Christians have been killed by Muslim Fulanis in the north over the past 15 years.
And yet, the leftist media and its allies (like Starmer) go out of their way to avoid public statements on such stories; or, when pressed, avoid labeling Islamic jihadism as ... Islamic.

Violence and violent rhetoric are always framed as "right-wing," while the dominating, prevalent violence from the Left is ignored. Starmer has not issued any statement, for example, of the leftwing counterprotesters that called for the deaths of conservative Brits over the weekend:

It is good to call out the fringe Nazi ideologies, but it's also good to call out the Marxists and the Muslims.
Starmer seems only interested in selective cases that match an agenda.
