British police officer Taylor Johanson, of Ashford, Kent, had just landed in Nashville for vacation on the evening of May 7 when he witnessed a local officer being assaulted on the side of the road.
Johanson told SWNS news,
We had been out of the airport for about ten minutes. As I was driving on the exit ramp, I saw the police car parked up and could see two people fighting on the floor.
Without hesitation, the off-duty officer pulled over his rented Jeep and pulled the attacker off the officer (talk about getting the American experience!).
His girlfriend, also a British constable, called local police for backup while Johanson restrained the assailant, allowing the Nashville policeman, Officer Kinsey, to grab his taser and handcuff the attacker.
During the 6-minute altercation, the attacker had gotten his hands on the officer's gun and fired off a round from the pistol. Thankfully, no one was injured, and it was at that tense moment that Johanson arrived.

Johanson says that if he hadn't pulled over a few minutes earlier to put some music on, he would have missed the attack, saying,
It is a bit like divine intervention. It was definitely the right place at the right time and I am glad it was me⦠Everyone was just driving past.
Six minutes in that situation is horrendous. It is a long time. If I had driven away and the officer had died, I don't think I would be able to forgive myself.
During his trip, members of the Nashville Police Department, along with Officer Kinsey's wife, were able to meet Johanson and thank him for his heroic efforts.
Chief John Drake echoed Johanson's sentiments about divine intervention, saying,
He miraculously appeared when Officer Kinsey needed help. I believe he likely saved our officer's life.
Johanson went on to say,
You are a police officer all the time whether you are on holiday or not.
Thankfully for Officer Kinsey, God had orchestrated backup to arrive ... from all the way across the pond!
