This is the kind of story that keeps thrifters digging through those racks.

A teenager in Oregon found the find of a lifetime on the rack of a local thrift shop when he picked up an official LA Lakers warmup jacket worn by the great Wilt "the Stilt" Chamberlain.

He made quite a profit at auction.

From the AP:

The jacket was auctioned by Sotheby's, which had estimated its value between $150,000 and $250,000 before bidding closed Monday. It received a total of 48 bids, according to the auction house.

The final bid was just under $90,000. Not exactly $250,000, but not a bad return on investment for a $3 jacket!

The most valuable thing that thrifter Quinn Brown had found prior to this was a T-shirt from the record label that signed the band Nirvana.

(He sold that for $250.)

Described on Sotheby's website as an 'extraordinary piece of memorabilia,' the short-sleeved yellow warmup jacket was worn by Chamberlain during the 1972 NBA finals, in which the Los Angeles Lakers beat the New York Knicks.

What a find.

This guy should buy a lottery ticket!
