Typical for San Francisco, they're having a little gay drama out in the Bay Area.
Mostly this:
The players weren't punished for defacing their gay hats, which is against the rules in MLB, but they also apparently weren't told by the Giants that the rules allow them to ditch the gay hat for the regular game hat.
Okay, now that you have the drama, let's take it over to Giants President of Baseball Operations Buster Posey, who has already released a statement on all of this.
I can't tell if that question about Devers is a troll or just an actual baseball question.
Devers, who has a huge contract, has been ... not great.
For the record, here's that statement the Giants already made:
The San Francisco Giants are proud to support Pride Night and the LGBTQ+ community. Baseball should be a place where everyone feels welcome, respected, and valued. We also respect that individuals may make personal choices about participating in team activations.
We understand that the choices by individual players have caused pain and anger to many in the LGBTQ+ community, and we are sorry for that. Those choices do not change our organization's commitment to inclusion, belonging, and creating a welcoming environment for all. We remain grateful to our fans, partners, employees, players, and coaches who help make Pride Night a meaningful celebration.
Oh, also, the San Francisco Chronicle is not a serious newspaper.
Anyhow, I'll let this based kid play us out:
