Ahem...
What's with the "unexpected" in this headline, CNN? Don't you know we're deporting people by the millions?
Here's CNN:
July's job gains marked a sharp slowdown from June's total, which was downwardly revised to 20,000 from 57,000. Following revisions, May's employment gains were essentially halved, dropping to 66,000 from 129,000.
The July report fell far short of economists' expectations for a 95,000-job gain.
Sounds pretty bad, right?
But this is hidden down in the article a bit, and I'll stop talking about deportations now:
Driving July's job losses were sectors such as local government, which shed 57,000 jobs, and leisure and hospitality, which dropped 40,000 jobs after losing 43,000 jobs in June.
What's more,
The top industries adding jobs were private education and health services, construction, and professional and business services.

So, you mean to tell me that the government lost 53,000 jobs, and then the private sector got the number back up closer to zero?
Sounds about right!
Oh, also, the unemployment rate dropped from 4.2% to 4.1% because more people left the workforce, so that's a fun one.
