Because why not marry a Chinese national? It's not like they're loyal to our largest adversary on the planet or anything!

The feds nabbed 10 suspects accused of operating a decade-long marriage fraud scheme that resulted in around 1,000 sham weddings between Chinese nationals and U.S. citizens for the purpose of getting the Asians green cards.
Each of the defendants arrested Wednesday faces charges of conspiring to commit marriage fraud and immigration document fraud, as well as conspiracy to encourage the unlawful residence of aliens in the U.S.

The feds say this scheme went on for about 10 years. Clients — mostly Chinese nationals — paid up to $100,000 a pop for the full package. This included a U.S. citizen spouse, a ceremony, the paperwork, and the fraudulent U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services application. They had attorneys, tax preparers, and even bogus marriage officiants help keep the operation going.
What's more, the American half of these couples was paid about $30,000 for their part.
Social media and other forms of marketing were used to lure the Chinese nationals in.

Prosecutors filed an indictment in the Southern District of New York charging the defendants with conspiracy to commit marriage fraud, immigration document fraud, and encouraging the unlawful residence of aliens.
