What should happen to judges who gamble with our lives in order to be nice to violent criminals?

I do realize I'm kinda taking a chance on you. And, you know, when people stand up - experienced police officers, experienced probation officers - and they tell me, 'This guy is a danger to the community, then, um, I hear that. And it gives me - I can't look into a crystal ball and tell and figure out what's gonna happen once you get out. But I do understand that I am taking a risk here.

Amazing. Just amazing.

Tyler Brown is charged with shooting at drivers in Cambridge, Massachusetts, on Monday, critically wounding two people with an AR-style rifle. He was stopped by a civilian with a carry license and a state trooper, then was transported to a local hospital. He has pled not guilty.

In 2020, Brown shot bullets at four Boston cops after they responded to calls of a man with a gun on Northhampton Street. He led them on a foot chase into Chester Park, firing indiscriminately with his .40-caliber Glock pistol as he did. One officer was "narrowly missed by the bullets" as he dove for cover.

Officers testified that the career criminal needed to be put away for a long time to ensure the safety of the public (10-12 years). But Judge Janet Sanders, apparently wondering if she could rehabilitate this poor, sad, lost little pit bull, decided to give him only 5 years for attempted murder of multiple police officers. He was paroled after three and a half years.

Sanders asked "what's gonna happen once you get out?" Well, we have our answer, Your Honor.

Local reporters visited Sanders' home (she is now retired from the Superior Court). She says she has no memory of the case.

I'm not going to comment. I have no memory of this case.

Again, let me ask: What should the penalty be for "taking a risk" on evildoers?
