When I saw "Dearborn shooting" trending, I wasn't sure if the astronauts or the austere religious scholars were responsible, but it looks like the astronauts win this time.
Early reports say three people were injured.

Witnesses are telling 7 News Detroit that the shooting happened on a lower level at the mall. One person also told 7 News Detroit that the shooting followed a fight between two men.
Cameras captured at least one person being loaded into an ambulance. The nature of that person's injuries isn't known.
The mall was evacuated after the shooting.

Real talk, because it's almost the holiday weekend SO WHY NOT.
I recently had a reader take offense to our use of euphemisms (AKA funny nicknames) for certain people groups.
We couldn't care less about the color of someone's skin. All men are created equal and endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights.
But it is important, actually, for the public good that we have hard conversations about dangerous behaviors that we ignore out of our warped sense of civility.
Young black men have a violence problem. They are literally the Danny DeVito "I started blasting" meme. We all know this. We just don't talk about it because we might be labeled "racist" for citing statistics.
That's why this story will get far less traction than most of our crime stories. Young black men are being killed by other black men every day but even the wokies who claim to care about black people do nothing to address it.
We just sort of accept it as a fact of life and reinforce our own biases while nothing changes.
I find that very sad.
As for the euphemisms, the next time a group of Bible-carrying white boys in MAGA hats decide to have a pistol duel inside a mall, I will GLADLY come up with a nickname for them.
But in all my years of covering the news, it hasn't happened yet.
