The American revolution was against the billionaires of their time. We were declaring independence from such an extreme marriage of wealth and power and the state.
AOC, you think the American Revolution was, like, a Marxist revolution? A worker's revolution?
Or is that just something you say to make excuses for your communism?
If you know anything about American history, you probably know that the Founding Fathers were not a poor and downtrodden group. Sure, Americans were oppressed by King George, but there were some very wealthy dudes behind the Revolution.
For real, Washington was a big, big deal. Mount Vernon? You've heard of it?
And it wasn't just Washington.
A majority of the founders were influential aristocrats from money and power.
They literally pledged their "lives, fortunes, and sacred honor" to the cause of American independence.
