Here's Politico on this week's primaries in the hotly contested race:

Former state Rep. Amish Shah won the crowded Democratic primary for Arizona's 1st District on Wednesday, defeating an establishment pick and other well-funded candidates for the battleground seat.

The district, which President Donald Trump carried by just three points in 2024, is one of Democrats' top pickup opportunities this cycle β€” and the tight primary evolved into a test of party leaders, after the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee backed former broadcast journalist Marlene GalΓ‘n-Woods.

Amish Shah, whose name sounds like a religious office for a weird Mennonite sect, won the primary for this same seat in 2024, but lost to the incumbent Republican Rep. David Schweikert.

Jay Feely retired from the NFL in 2014 and worked as a sports reporter for CBS until 2025, when he told ESPN he would be running for Congress.

Both men worked for the Jets in 2008 and 2009. Shah served as the team's emergency care physician.
