California spent $189 million to give every state prisoner in the Golden State an iPad, and you can guess what happened next.

Yes, while normal Californians have been dodging needles in the streets, paying sky-high taxes, and wondering if their electric car will make it to the next rolling blackout, Governor Gavin Newsom has had a much more pressing priority: Making sure the state's most vicious criminals have high-speed access to their favorite skin flicks.

Get this: They already had access to tablets; Newsom just wanted it to be "equitable."

The administration heralded the effort to replace inmates' old tablets — which were piloted in 2018 and given to nearly all prisoners by 2023 — as a step toward 'digital equity' for 'justice-impacted' individuals, who could, in theory, use the devices to contact their families, consume 'educational' content, and 'learn new technology.'

"Digital equity"!

Marxism sure is fun!

And yeah, these criminals are turning the devices into personal porn theaters.

For some, the devices have become personal sex machines. In the words of one inmate, California's death row is populated with desperately 'horny' criminals who see the tablets as a way to satisfy their basest fantasies and desires — all thanks to the California taxpayer.

Prisoners can receive nude photos and view porn on these devices, though it seems like they're getting the porn from contacts on the outside, not granted access to porn sites natively.

What's more, one of the prisoners already got busted using his tablet to sexually exploit a 12-year-old girl, making thousands of calls and soliciting explicit images in violation of a no-contact order.

I gotta show you that full story, cuz it's peak California.

And inmates, including child predators, can communicate with members of the public through their tablets, apparently with no age restrictions, at a cost of five cents per text message or 16 cents per minute of video.

In a recent case, Nathaniel Ray Diaz, who was convicted of committing sex crimes against a 12-year-old girl, allegedly used a prison-issued tablet to contact and exploit her from inside Avenal State Prison. Diaz allegedly told the girl to send him sexually explicit images, which he received through a co-conspirator. The girl reportedly told investigators that Diaz forced her to speak with him through the tablet 'for hours, every day,' from the time she came home from school until the prison phones turned off at midnight.

Prosecutors alleged that, in total, Diaz made 'thousands of calls' to the girl, violating a no-contact order and — by soliciting explicit photographs and exploiting a minor — committing additional child sex crimes. The Eastern District of California Attorney's Office told us that Diaz is in custody awaiting trial.

Another inmate claims he received a topless photo from a 22-year-old. But hey, at least they're staying connected with the community!

Don't worry though, you guys, California tells us the iPads are "tightly controlled education tools" full of Bibles and reentry resources that "actually reduce crime."

Sure, Jan.
