Ways to get deleted by a cop: Lesson 1 👇
Sure, he apologizes to the officer, but everyone knows it's illegal to open-carry a squirt gun in Michigan (that's a joke, folks), especially when cops think there's a burglary in progress.
Seriously though, this kid's lucky he didn't get toasted here. Props to the officer for holding fire.
Multiple calls have gone out during these senior water fights, so likely the police had "squirt gun" in the back of their mind.
Calls for trespassing, speeding, and disrupting businesses - on top of the suspicious activity call in the video above - have gone out during these water fights, and Davison Community Schools Superintendent Matt Lobban isn't having it.
Here's part of a letter he wrote to parents via ABC 12:
We are reaching out today because we are very concerned that someone is going to get seriously hurt - or worse - as seniors engage in the game of 'water wars' following an incident that occurred last night.
...
We have cautioned students through our Daily Announcements and DTV newscasts that these behaviors can be reported to police and lead to more serious consequences but after last night's incident we are strongly encouraging students to simply stop playing this game before a seemingly harmless senior prank ends up with tragic results.
We used to have a proper country where kids could have squirt gun wars without everyone calling the cops.
Now we have to make the last week of school the most boring week on the calendar.
In the wise words of Superintendent Lobban,
Please talk with your student about the dangers and consequences involved in continuing to play water wars.
Thank you for your attention to this matter!
