This is something that shouldn't be surprising for anyone who's been paying attention the last few years.

For Texas customers stopping by their local CVS to fill a prescription or grab a quick snack, their next visit may look very different.
The pharmacy giant has unveiled a first-of-its-kind store concept that abandons its traditional drugstore model in favor of a format centered almost entirely on healthcare.

Okay, it's just one store. So far.
But as the Mail reports, it's "the first of nearly 20 pharmacy-focused locations expected to pop up across the country." So we're going to see more of them.
And you can bet that if they stop the hemorrhaging of money, we'll see even more.
And the "making money" part is key, because CVS has in fact been losing quite a bit of money in recent years due to lots and lots of theft:

Pretty soon, the CVS near you could stop being a convenient place to grab a quick household good and instead just look like a stripped-down hospital shop:

CVS says the change-over is being driven in part by "growing pressure from online retailers, grocery chains and discount stores that chipped away at in-store sales."
It assures consumers that the new stores "will complement, not replace, its traditional locations." (Yeah, right.)
I just need to make sure I'll have somewhere to get my People magazines and KitKat bars when I need them!
